Photograph of syringe and gauze pads allegedly used by Roger Clemens via The Smoking Gun

It's the Smoking Garbage! Lawyers for Brian McNamee, the trainer who alleges his former client Roger Clemens did inject himself with steroids, showed off photographs of alleged injection detritus. The Smoking Gun posted to photos last night and noted, among the "syringes, blood-specked gauze pads, and drug vials, "it is unclear what the significance is of the Miller Lite can seen." (ESPN reports that the can - from Clemens' 2001 NYC trash - contained drug needles!)

McNamee met with congressional lawyers yesterday, as government continues to investigate charges in the Mitchell Report. One of McNamee's lawyers asked Clemens to provide his DNA, saying, "Roger Clemens has put himself in a position where his legacy as the greatest pitcher in baseball will depend less on his ERA and more on his DNA." Another lawyer told the Daily News why McNamee saved the trash,"He is a New York City cop who thinks in terms of evidence. He had a sense that Roger was not trustworthy, and would betray him ultimately." Good thing he was injecting his clients with illegal substances!

Clemens has denied injecting himself with, uh, unhealthy banned substances. Clemens' lawyers' reaction to the photographs? McNamee is "psycho" to save the garbage!
