Yesterday morning and early afternoon, before it officially became the Blizzard For The Ages® with 26.8 inches total accumulation, winter storm Jonas was... well, a total blast for some (kids and dogs and fun people), and just kind of blowy and brutal for everyone else.

In Williamsburg around the Bedford Avenue stop, in the East Village around Tompkins Square Park, and along Orchard Street on the Lower East Side, cars got trapped, an MTA bus got stuck (one would-be hero got behind the 30,000-pound beast and started to push), and New Yorkers and their giddy dogs took to the nearly-empty streets to romp and play and Instagram. Or run errands and feel the bite of Jonas on their face.

The forecast for today: sledding and hot chocolate.
