Earlier we urged you to re-read the Parks Department's ice safety rules, which puts "never go on frozen waters" in the #1 spot. But what if the frozen waters are camouflaged and covered up with snow? Over the weekend Anne-Katrin Titze sent us the above photo of Prospect Park Lake, noting there are footsteps on the snow-covered lake, meaning someone was walking on frozen waters. This could especially be a hazard if people aren't aware of where the meadow ends and where the lake begins (recently a dog fell into the lake there and drowned). Titze tells us the snowfall "makes it look like another meadow in the park. Very dangerous. When there is no plowing of paths lakeside, borders disappear."

We've contacted the Parks Department to find out their game plan for snow-covered lakes, and if they plan to clear them—we will update when we hear back.
