When driving, it is sometimes becomes necessary to make difficult decisions. Yes, that looks like a house, but your GPS is telling you it's a shortcut to the airport, and irrational entrances worked out just fine for Harry Potter so why not you too?

Because you are not Harry Potter. With rare exceptions, you are Michael from The Office, and you will do well to remember that, particularly when operating a vehicle. The above photo was snapped by a tipster named Kitty, who sent it along to the blog MyUpperWest with the following information:

Apparently this guy blindly followed his electronic guide into the park and was heading down the stairs at 88th Street (just south of the Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument) before it dawned on him to… you know… hit the breaks.

The car’s back wheels are on “street level,” while the front tires are hanging over the first few steps. It looks like a front-wheel drive model, so my guess is reversing out wasn’t an option and a tow truck had to be called.

That’s a cop on the right — not sure if the guy on the left with the dog is the driver or a bemused bystander. I assume it’s the latter and the driver is hiding in shame somewhere out of frame.

The car also has Rhode Island plates, so possibly that state has a more lenient policy toward off-roading in city parks. Or maybe the unfortunate out-of-towner was simply rattled after having lunched next to a pooping baby.
