Hooray, the Department of Transportation has announced that it will not evict a family of sparrows living (adorably) in an Upper West Side crosswalk signal. A DOT spokeswoman told the Post for its article yesterday, "We will inspect any location and remove anything obstructing a signal," but now she says the sparrows are okay to stay there because they are not obstructing anything. The baby sparrows are too young to leave the nest for at least two weeks and are so cute that one tourist suggested, "Maybe the city should put holes in all the signs."
