What's one of the most sought after and expensive domain names in history? Sex.com, of course. Yesterday the rights to the domain were going to be auctioned off (starting at $1MM), after previous owner (since 2006) Escom went into foreclosure. However, after hot and heavy suitors were ready to bid, the auction was postponed.
In the meantime, PETA is one of the many interested parties, but they don't want to pay—the animals rights organization wants the domain to be gifted to them! They say, "instead of selling the domain to the highest bidder, we're asking the company to charitably donate the domain. PETA is all about using sex to promote compassion toward furry, finned, and feathered individuals [they admitted it!]. If the company accepts our proposition, everybody will win: DOM Partners will get a huge tax write-off and PETA would load the site with pages of scintillating and lifesaving information."
They continue with a list of facts they would post on the site, for example: "Meat-loving men tend to limp through their later years thanks to their artery-clogging diets." Sexy!
