A Queens woman is in critical condition after getting run over by a school bus that careened off the road after colliding with another vehicle yesterday afternoon in Jamaica. NBC New York reports that the unidentified woman was walking on the sidewalk when the bus driver "lost control and crashed into a sedan," and swerved up onto the curb, smashed through a small brick fence, and slammed into a house. The pedestrian was pinned under the bus, and officials say she suffered severe leg trauma with a partial amputation of her limbs.

The NYPD tells us no charges were filed against either driver, though some witnesses say the driver of the Nissan Altima was at fault, not the bus driver. "It ran the stop sign right there and basically t-boned the school bus, and it was like a deflection," one witness tells NY1. "Almost hit little children crossing the street. It’s wild around here." Another says, "I actually saw [the victim] was laying there, she was awake, she was aware of what was going on." The pedestrian is currently listed in critical but stable condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The FDNY says five others sustained injuries in the crash. The two children on the bus had minor injuries, while the driver of the Nissan was hospitalized in stable condition. "They take a bus matron out because she had her leg hurt," a 12-year-old witness named Ramfy Baez (great name!) tells NBC New York. Another local resident insists, "Somebody needs to come here and actually take a look at this intersection here and maybe there won't be as many accidents happening."
