The mystery of the abandoned ash-filled urns has been solved. The two urns, which Port Authority police found abandoned last month at the Newport PATH station, apparently contained the cremains of an unidentified homeless man's grandmother and aunt, the Jersey Journal is reporting.

The man reportedly told police that he just couldn't carry them around anymore and decided to leave them in the station. Police found the man, who is believed to be off his medication, after inspecting security tapes that showed him leaving the silver jars on a landing leading to a platform.

No charges are being placed, the urns are currently being kept in Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Newark and the homeless man was brought by the police to the Jersey City Medical Center to be examined.
