Yesterday the Post gave us Adam Dell's side of Padma Lakshmi's baby daddy drama and today People gives us the Top Chef host's side (or, rather, her "friends" and lawyer's side). The short of it? She is "devastated" about the lawsuit from the father of her almost one-year-old daughter.

Apparently the former Mrs. Rushdie is "living in a nightmare" since Dell's filings went public. A source tells the magazine "She's a single working mother who is trying very hard to have a peaceful and calm environment for her daughter. The recent events are making it difficult." (One of the claims in Dell's lawsuit is that Lakshmi was sleeping with billionaire financier Teddy Forstmann at the same time she was sleeping with him and that Lakshmi hoped the baby was Forstmann's.)

The same source tells the magazine that Lakshmi isn't trying to keep her daughter away from her father, just that "Lakshmi is still nursing her daughter and that '[Dell's visitation] will increase as Krishna ages—as it's appropriate.'"

Meanwhile her lawyers say they aren't going to bother correcting Dell's misrepresentations until they get to court, and a rep for Lakshmi says the model's "sole interest lies in preserving the privacy and welfare of her daughter and in working out a fair and amicable agreement out of the media's glare."
