An off-duty cop was stabbed early this morning at a Bronx strip club. The unnamed officer was stabbed in the abdomen around 6 a.m. this morning at the Crazyhorse Cabaret on Boston Road. It's currently unknown what prompted the stabbing, but the officer is in stable condition. It was the same club where a former Sopranos actor had been drinking before a bungled robbery and tragic confrontation with another officer five years ago.
In 2005, actor Lillo Brancato and friend Steven Armento were hanging out at the club before they decided to try to rob a drug dealer, and ended up in a fatal shootout with an off-duty cop. Brancato, who played Matthew Bevilaqua on The Sopranos, was given ten years in jail for the burglary. Another strange Sopranos connection: the Bronx strip club has the same name as the club run by Adriana La Cerva, the doomed partner of Christopher Moltisanti on the long running mob show. And that club was named after Neil Young's classic backup band, Crazy Horse, which was in turn named after the famous Native American war leader. So at least a non-fictional strip club is now keeping the Crazy Horse legacy alive.
