The police are hoping the public can help them locate a man suspected of an attempted rape and robbery in upper Manhattan, in the 30th Precinct.

According to the NYPD, on Monday, March 10th at 10:30 p.m., a woman entered her building around the same time as an unknown male. The woman was checking her mail and the man lingered in her lobby. When she started to walk up to the her apartment, the suspect "approached her and went through her pockets and took her cellphone." She managed to take her cellphone back and man backed off.

The woman went up to her apartment and when she was entering, the man ran in behind her and tried to remove her blouse and pants. The woman fought back and yelled, sending the suspect—who took her cellphone—running.

Police describe the suspect as a man approximately 5'7" in height. He was last seen wearing a beige coat with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath.
