NYPD officials said Tuesday evening they’re closely monitoring a shooting in Washington, D.C., that left two National Guard members injured just blocks from the White House, though there are no known threats to New York City.

The troops were deployed from West Virginia, authorities said. One was reportedly shot in the head. Their conditions were not immediately known.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch addressed the incident, which she said appeared to be targeted, on Wednesday evening during a press conference about security for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“We are keeping the Guard members and their families in our thoughts and prayers, and we are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with our law enforcement partners in D.C.," she said. "At this time, there appears to be no known nexus to New York City."

Tisch has previously said she was against the idea of deploying federal troops in New York. In September, she said she was “revolted” by the notion of militarizing city streets, rejecting the kind of National Guard presence President Donald Trump had implemented in Washington and threatened for other major cities.

A suspect in the D.C. shooting is in custody and was also injured, according to law enforcement.
