The NYPD is asking for the public's help finding a Bronx man they say fatally shot two men and wounded a third person inside two stores over the last three days.
Investigators identified the man they are seeking as Jesus Acosta, 31, of Soundview. Police released a photograph and said Acosta has the word "Bronx" tattooed on his hand and the name "Bobby" tattooed on his left forearm.
The first shooting happened just after midnight Sunday inside American Best Wings and Pizza, a store in Brownsville, Brooklyn, police said. Officers responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress found a 44-year-old man shot in the head and a 39-year-old man shot in the leg, according to the NYPD.
Both were taken to Brookdale Hospital, where the older man was pronounced dead. The 39-year-old is in stable condition.
Officials have not released the deceased man's name, pending family notification.
Two days later, just after midnight Tuesday, an armed man walked into a South Bronx deli, approached a 33-year-old, fired several shots and hit him in the chest, according to the NYPD.
Police said the gunman then took an unknown amount of cash from behind the register and ran off. The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital and later died from his injuries, police said Tuesday afternoon. Police are now investigating his death as a homicide.
Police have not released the 33-year-old man's name, pending notification of his family.
Police have not said how they linked Acosta to both shootings. No arrests have been made in either case, and the investigations are ongoing, authorities said.
