Meteorologists say the long weekend will bring back cooler temperatures and a chance of rain, after a week that felt more like August than November,
“We're going to see temperatures kind of gradually fall each day through the weekend,” said meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki from the National Weather Service. “That's courtesy of a cold front that's moving across the area today.”
Highs for Saturday and Sunday will hover in the mid-to-upper 50s, which Ciemnecki said is seasonable for this time of year, before climbing slightly into the mid-60s for Veterans Day on Monday.
The cooler temps will also bring a slight chance of light rain Sunday night into Monday morning – but it won’t be enough precipitation to end the historic dry spell that’s gripped the city and surrounding areas since October, according to the National Weather Service.
The rain should mostly clear out in time for the Veterans Day parade to step off on 5th Avenue and 26th Street at 12:30 p.m.
Ciemnecki said that dry conditions and seasonable temperatures will follow for the beginning of next week, with the potential for more rain come Thursday or Friday.
