According to a new survey from AskMen.com, New York City ranked #1 in the world for the best city to live in if you're a guy. The survey rated 29 cities according to cost of living, weather, jobs, dating, leisure activities and air quality, and New York beat out Melbourne, Tokyo and London. Website editor in chief James Bassil told Reuters, "We're positioning the best cities that you can live in say, for a year, somewhere exotic, with cultural options, and job opportunities as well, and also entertainment as a man, which includes clubs and fresh air options."
Last Year New York didn't even break the top five, but this year we beat out American cities San Francisco (#10), Los Angeles (#12), Chicago (#24) and Las Vegas (#29). Boston didn't even rank on the list. Our overall score was 91.6/100, with high marks for cost of living, nightlife, "day on the town," and outdoor activities. We scored slightly lower for dating and professional life, but that can be attributed to the economy, right? Melbourne came in #2 with 88.8/100.
But what about the ladies out there? Though there's no AskWomen.com, Women's Health Magazine had a feature of the top 5 cities to live in for your health, and New York was nowhere to be found. San Jose came in #1 there, followed by Seattle, Minneapolis, Fargo and Lincoln, Nebraska. Yeah, we'll take the first list.
