L: current billboard in NJ via NJ.com/The Star-Ledger; R: past CK billboard on Houston St
That racy billboard in Jersey has turned off enough people that the NYC-based billboard company, CBS Outdoor, is buckling under the pressure and taking it down. The grievances aired include that it's too sexually explicit; that it is insulting to the city’s African-American population; and that it's an example of outsiders coming in and degrading the city of Newark. Amongst those against the billboard is Mayor Cory Booker, who requested that it be removed.
The ad is for AKOO, a clothing line owned by rapper T.I., and shows a woman presumably about to give her gentleman friend a blowjob. Because that is what happens when you wear those jeans. When you wear Calvin Klein jeans, some other weird thing happens (pictured). And as Eyewitness News noted yesterday, no one even seemed to notice the billboard in NJ until the press pointed it out; as one resident told NJ.com, "It’s somewhat suggestive but that’s not bad compared to what they show in New York City where they are basically nude."
