More NY State budget woe news: State budget director Robert Megna said, "Our cash flow problems are unprecedented," revealing that the state will run out of cash in June. According to the Times Union, "Megna said they will likely come up $1 billion short in June due to a convergence of bills such as $4 billion that is supposed to go to local school districts. Additionally, payments for Medicaid providers, state employee payroll and income tax refunds go out during that period." Great! Revenue from sales and income tax won't come in until later in June, so the state might pursue short-term borrowing. The Paterson administration is trying to push lawmakers to pass a budget (which was due on April 1) soon; Governor Paterson has already halted school funding and is withholding union raises.
