The Rhode Island woman who was raped by hotel employee Jaime Marin Lopez Mendoza while staying at Midtown's Dream Hotel in December 2009 is still haunted by the horrific incident. A month after her rapist was sent to jail for 15 years she's filed a lawsuit Surrey Hotel Associates, the Hotel's parent company.

Back in 2009 Mendoza helped his inebriated victim and her boyfriend back into their room and, after they had fallen asleep, took advantage of the situation. When she woke up, he fled. Mendoza insisted throughout the trial that he was not a rapist though a court saw the case differently. At his sentencing a note from the victim, who was not there, was read aloud that said "Every day I re-live multiple flashbacks from an inexcusable and life changing event...Even when I look into my boyfriend's eyes and say 'I love you,' I still remember. I would never wish this upon anyone."

The victim is suing Surrey for unspecified damages as they were responsible for the (she says negligent) hiring, training and supervision of Mendoza.
