We've heard that Mixed Martial Arts fighting is violent and scary and bloody, but apparently it can also be helpful. Joseph Lozito, who was attacked by murder suspect Maksim Gelman on the subway over the weekend, said he was able to fight him off because of years of fighting knowledge gained by watching UFC fights, and as thanks for his work got to meet UFC president Dana White. White said to Lozito and his wife, "I want to have you both down to a fight and have you sit at my table for the fight in New Jersey."
Lozito previously said, "I tried to take him down with a wrestling move called a single leg takedown, but it ended up more like a football tackle." White told Lozito that he was a hero for what he did, but Lozito humbly responded, "no, the police are the heroes." Lozito has no professional MMA training, but says he has been watching the sport for over 20 years and has figured out a few moves along the way. Is that how it works? Because we've been watching football for about 20 years and for some reason we still can't throw like Peyton Manning.
