A skeleton found inside a discarded couch near the Belt Parkway in September has been ruled the victim of a homicide, according to the city medical examiner.
The human remains were discovered on September 25th of last year when Department of Transportation workers attempted to cart away an old abandoned couch they found in a thatch of weeds near the Parkway's Flatbush Avenue exit. Bones reportedly fell out of the cushions as the workers attempted to load it in a truck. A t-shirt, boxers and jeans were found along with the remains, along with a medical syringe.
After investigating, the medical examiner's office has ruled that the body belonged to someone who was fatally stabbed. The body likely belonged to a 35-year-old male, and say he had likely been dead for about six months to a year.
