No more must you suffer the indignity of trying to pull up the MTA's spazzy, zoomed-out Weekender homepage on your iPhone: the agency's first app does all that and more. Available for download here or at the App Store, the free app gives you updated service changes by line, borough, and station.
According to a press release, updates of the app will soon include a built-in TripPlanner (the app just links you to the website now), but we're still behind D.C. in that we can't see when the trains are arriving.
For those who'd call the MTA "Droidist" for developing the iPhone app first (an Android app is supposedly forthcoming), we'd point to the theory that developers have more fun and make more money coming up with iPhone apps. And if it makes Droid fans feel any better, iPhone users still can't report police misconduct on our phones—so hop on down the stairs and try to find those ripped pieces of paper that will tell you if the G is going to be arriving in the next 3 hours or so. We'll be waiting above ground with the iPhone users, posting precious Instagram photos with an air of smug self-satisfaction.
