Last night, an MTA worker died after apparently killing himself at a downtown Manhattan subway station.
Police responded to a report about a shooting at the 14th and 7th Avenue station, and found a transit worker injured. PIX 11 said, "Detectives are investigating, but preliminary information indicates it is a self inflicted gunshot wound."
The Post reports, "A colleague discovered the man face-up with a bullet wound to his chest in an employee locker room at the 14th Street station near Seventh Avenue just before 10 p.m., the sources said. The man, who collected cash from MetroCard vending machines all over the city, was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he died. His identity was not released."
