2015 finally breaks the 60 degree barrier! Yesterday's high of 62 was the warmest it has been since Christmas Day. The next hurdle, 70 degrees, hasn't happened since late October and there are no signs of it returning anytime soon. Instead the forecast goes right into the toilet as we've got a return to much cooler weather following this morning's cold front passage. Light showers are possible and the temperature is going to hang out in the mid 40s for much of the day.

Neverending winter returns tonight as northerly winds push cold air into the region. Look for lows near freezing in the city tonight and below freezing away from the urban heat island. The precipitation picture is much fuzzier as the forecast models don't seem to have a good handle on a complex series of disturbances that will affect us through tomorrow night. Eastern Long Island could see an inch or two of a precipitation type that, for personal safety reasons, we can't mention here in the Gothamist office. The city should be far enough west to avoid most of that precipitation but we can't rule out a light coating.

Sunday morning will be very cold for late March with a low in the mid 20s. A strong northwesterly breeze will push the wind chill into the teens. However, lots of sun on Sunday will help the temperature climb to the mid 40s. Only ten degrees colder than normal! Most of next week is shaping up to have highs in the low to mid 50s.
