A Jersey City mom was arrested this week after her six children were found home alone, running amok naked in the streets. Francine Davis, 40, faces child endangerment charges after neighbors discovered that her children, between the ages of 3 and 14, had been left alone for more than a day. She had left her autistic 14-year-old in charge. "They didn't know how to eat with forks," said Aaliyah Glover, the 16-year-old who took charge of the situation after she saw the kids nearly getting run over by cars.
Glover and her 17-year-old friend Njlaja Wyatt spotted five of their upstairs neighbor’s children running around outside on Tuesday, some completely nude. A man working in the area at the time, Henry C., told Jersey City that neighbors were horrified by the scene: “I never saw anything like this before. I felt sorry for them.” They broke into the apartment, and found the youngest child crying; they called the police, then bathed and fed the children, whom they said hadn't eaten in days. Police said they found nothing for the children to eat or drink in the upstairs apartment.
The children were removed that night and placed into temporary foster care, and witnesses told ABC that David returned home briefly around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, then went out again. She turned herself in willingly later on Wednesday, and remains behind bars on a $50,000 bond.
