Major League Baseball is investigating whether Alex Rodriguez participated in an illegal high-stakes poker game that involves several celebrities. Star Magazine reported on Friday that it has three sources placing A-Rod at the games, which have been played at Hollywood hotels and residences of the other celebrities (Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck) involved in the poker ring.
Rodriguez's spokesman, Richard Rubenstein, said that the Yankee "has not participated in these poker games," but this is A-Rod, the guy seems to enjoy getting in trouble. In 2005, The Daily News reported that he was scolded by MLB for his involvement in illegal poker rings, and he vowed never to do it again.
Star also has quotes from a poker player who says that he played with Rodriguez as recently as 18 months ago. And of course, in typical A-Rod fashion, he was smugly successful. The player told Star, "He [Rodriguez] had an amazing run. He won about $20,000 and left with everyone's money."
Do you think he kissed himself on the way out?
