An unapologetic prankster heisted a cop car that was left running and unattended outside a greasy spoon in Morris Park early this morning. The officer didn’t even have time to order his breakfast before realizing the highway patrol vehicle was gone, and with it his loaded rifle. "All of a sudden I see a cop come out of the restaurant running. He was going crazy," said Sammy Obaid, an employee at a deli across the street from the Lydig Coffee House. "He was on the phone, making calls. He was freaked out."

Cops found the SUV parked sideways at La Guardia airport and tracked-down its driver inside the terminal. "Oh, you got me," said the “erratic”-seeming man who had handcuffs dangling from his waistband and had in his arms a blue clipboard, police paperwork, a police identification kit that scans drivers’ licenses and a wad of $100 bills, according to the NY Post. Police, who took him in for questioning, found more stuff from the car stashed in an airport bathroom, but the cop’s gun was right where he’d left it. Sources say he’ll most likely be suspended.

As for the joy rider, 49-year-old Anibal Lugo, his motivations are unclear. In the past he’s been convicted of theft and petit larceny, but he told police he didn’t mean any harm. "He just wanted to go for a ride," a police source told the Daily News.
