A group of young men beat a 52-year-old man with a stick and stabbed him to death outside a McDonald's in Stamford, Connecticut last week after he spilled coffee on them, according to reports.
The attack happened Wednesday evening outside a McDonald's establishment at 25 Bedford Street. The victim, Guatemalan native Antonio Muralles, was found by cops at around 8:17 p.m., having suffered a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to Stamford Hospital and died early Thursday morning.
Police have arrested two men, 22-year-old James McLamb of New Haven, and an unidentified 15-year-old boy from Stamford. Investigators say they and an additional one to 3 suspects were gathered outside the McDonald's that night, when Muralles bumped into the teen and spilled coffee on them.
Though Muralles reportedly tried to apologize, "the 15-year-old juvenile was the instigator and kept going at him," Stamford police Lt. Dietrich Hohn told the Daily News. Authorities say the teen stabbed Muralles several times—including in the heart—while McLamb and the other suspects beat and assaulted him.
Both the teenager and McLamb have been charged with first-degree murder. McLamb is being held on $2 million baiol; the 15-year-old may be tried as an adult.
