A man stabbed in Brooklyn yesterday ran over a block with the blade still in his back, but unfortunately collapsed and bled to death. Witnesses told the Daily News that the victim, 23-year-old Maurice Burrus, was walking down the street in East New York with his girlfriend when a group of young men ambushed him. Close to her apartment, his girlfriend allegedly ran home to get a knife. But upon returning, another man wrestled the knife from her grip and stabbed Burrus in the back.

Burrus then ran down Van Siclen Avenue before falling over and dying. He was a father of two girls and worked as a messenger in Manhattan. His brother said, "My big brother didn't deserve to die like this. Nobody deserves to die like this." Witnesses believe the stabbing may have been over a girl.
