Bronx authorities have indicted a man on charges of animal cruelty and torture after he allegedly posted photos online of a bloodied cat.

David Mosley, 26, of the Bronx, shared a photo of himself with a live cat on Instagram on Oct. 11, and less than two weeks later, posted another image of the same cat lying motionless in a pool of what appeared to be blood, according to Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.

“The defendant’s alleged shocking behavior included posting images of a dead cat on social media and bragging about what he had allegedly done,” Clark said in a statement on Tuesday.

The photos prompted a search of Mosley’s apartment on Oct. 29, where detectives found dried feline blood on the floor, according to the investigation.

Surveillance footage from Mosley’s building showed him carrying the cat, alive, into his apartment on Oct. 9. Mosley later told police he had found the cat after it died, officials said.

Animal advocates gathered outside Bronx Supreme Criminal Court for Mosley’s arraignment on Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on March 17.

Attorney information for Mosley was not immediately available.
