A subway rider was dragged to his death Monday night when he became caught in the closing doors of an F train. The incident occurred at the Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens station in Queens at about 6:45 p.m. when the man, identified as 51-year-old Edward Leonard, attempted to board a southbound F train and the doors closed on him.
An MTA spokesperson told DNAinfo Leonard suffered severe injuries to his head and upper body as he was dragged 30 feet by the moving train. He was later pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.
It's unclear how Leonard got stuck in the doors. An MTA spokesperson confirmed to Gothamist that an investigation is ongoing.
