A 51-year-old man was found dead inside a jail cell this morning in an Upper East Side precinct house.
According to an NYPD release, Edward Soto was found in the cell area of the 19th Precinct at around 10:08 a.m., "unconscious and unresponsive."
The Post is reporting that Soto hung himself.
An NYPD spokesman says that Soto, a Bronx resident, was arrested for trespassing yesterday at around 5:30 p.m, and could not confirm whether his body was found hanging from the cell. The Medical Examiner is determining the cause of death, while the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.
