A 50-year-old man was attacked and scalded with boiling water in a possible hate crime in the Bronx last night.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at West Kingsbridge Road near Grand Avenue. The victim, whom the Post has identified as Thomas Kornell, told cops that three men approached him and threw him onto the ground. It's unclear what sparked the altercation, nor whether Kornell knew the men beforehand.
He says the trio punched and kicked him on the ground while calling him a "n-----," and one of the suspects threw boiling water onto his face.
Kornell was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and treated for severe burns to his face. The NYPD had no descriptions of the suspect available yet, but the Post described two of the men as Hispanic and one as black.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed the incident is being investigated by the Hate Crime Task Force.
