Shortly after releasing information about a suspect who allegedly tried to convince a 10-year-old girl over to him, the police have made an arrest. Jaminton Carela was charged wtih acting in a manner injurious to a child.

According to the NYPD, at around 7:40 a.m. yesterday, the girl was walking along 81st Street in Jackson Heights, "when an unknown male Hispanic, who was walking on the opposite side of the street saw the victim and motioned for her to come to him. Ignoring the suspect the victim continued walking on 81 Street and that's when the suspect crossed the street. The suspect continued to follow her and reached his hand out to her. The victim ran from the male and yelled for help."

A school crossing guard confronted the suspect at 37th Avenue, police say, but the suspect fled.

The Post reports, "Detectives in the 115th Precinct canvassed the area and found the man at a nearby gym, based on the clothes he was wearing at the time of the incident."

On Thursday evening, a man wielding a stick and driving a "very old, very rusty" van allegedly tried to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Brooklyn. He is still at large.
