The Nassau County Police Department launched an investigation after two officers were allegedly caught taking selfies in front of a burning home on Thursday afternoon.

A video broadcast by NBC 4 appears to show two police officers smiling and posing for selfies in front of a Uniondale home that was engulfed in flames.

"The contents of this video are very concerning to the department and are currently under investigation," Nassau PD told NBC in a statement. "If these officers are found to be in violation of any department rules and regulations, they will be appropriately disciplined."

The fire broke out at the Uniondale home after someone accidentally left a stove turned on, Newsday reports. The home was destroyed in the fire, but its only occupant managed to escape through the window, and firefighters rescued a dog that was left inside.

The family who lost their home told NBC 4 that they're a "law enforcement family" in a different county and don't think the officers did anything wrong, but their neighbors don't agree.

"It's disgusting," a man who lived near the house and asked not to be named said. "I don't like that because it shows no concern about the people in the neighborhood. People in the neighborhood lose a house, and you're just going to sit there taking selfies."

Yeah, this isn't the 9/11 Memorial, guys.
