Last month, a Jets fan and three Patriots fans found themselves in hot water after a video of a brawl at MetLife Stadium went viral. Jets superfan and convicted killer Kurt Paschke, plus Pats supporters Amanda MacDowell, Jaclyn Nugent, and David James Sacco, were charged with charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. However, a second video apparently shows more of the altercation.
According to the Bergen Record, "The new footage was screened privately Wednesday night inside East Rutherford’s municipal court for the attorneys of four people charged in the fight. Taken from security cameras inside MetLife Stadium, the video revealed for the first time in court contains an additional eight to 10 seconds of the melee."
Unsurprisingly, lawyers for the defendants all claimed the new footage cleared their clients! Lawyer Warren E. Sutnick said, “What we saw on this video is very similar to what you saw on YouTube, and it’s consistent with Amanda MacDowell’s argument that Mr. Paschke was the aggressor." And Joseph Cataldo, whose client Jaclyn Nugent was seen getting punched by Paschke, said, "I don’t think there’s any dispute in this case that Mr. Paschke is the aggressor."
However, NJ State Police claim that MacDowell and Nugent kicked Paschke first. Paschke's lawyer Aida Leisenring said, "There’s not much there that changes our position. It’s basically absurd that this case is being prosecuted. They should all have a beer together and go home." Because nothing brings greater peace and harmony to belligerent sports fans than alcohol.
