  • Rangers 1 Devils 0 Overtime: This was one the Rangers needed to win and it showed. From the start of the game they played a smart, defensive style that gave New Jersey very few chances. It worked to perfection as the Devils only got 17 shots during the entire game, but the problem was the Rangers couldn’t score.

Time and again Martin Brodeur stopped them and when the game went to overtime, it appeared likely a shootout would be the only way to settle it. But, in the four-on-four overtime, the Rangers created a beautiful goal. Dan Girardi passed to Fedor Tyutin who sent the puck to Scott Gomez. Gomez then rifled it over to Brendan Shanahan who slammed home a one-timer to beat Brodeur and send New York home with the win.

  • Wizards 104 Nets 89: Caron Butler had a huge second half, scoring 20 points and leading the Wizards to a comeback victory over the Nets. Vince Carter had 30 points as the Nets dropped their third-straight.
