St. John's survived a pesky Rutgers team in the second round of the Big East tournament, but not without some help from the men in stripes. The Red Storm appeared to get away with two fouls and certainly got away with traveling and stepping out of bounds. Justin Brownlee traveled and stepped out of bounds -- and threw the ball into the stands for good measure -- all with time on the clock, but not of those infractions were not called. Instead, St. John's won, 65-63, and will get Syracuse on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
The Knicks had 96 points through three quarters but managed to only win 110-108 against the Grizzlies. Carmelo Anthony had 31 points on 12-of-24 shooting -- including the go-ahead basket with less than a second remaining -- and Amar'e Stoudemire had 26 despite leaving the game briefly with an injury. The game wasn't always pretty, but the Knicks will take it.
The Nets hadn't won three games in a row for two seasons before Wednesday's 94-90 win over Golden State. Brook Lopez had 26 points and 10 rebounds and made two big free throws down the stretch. Deron Williams didn't even play, making the win even more impressive. Anthony Morrow stepped up with 22.
