St. John's 10-man senior class finished its regular-season schedule on a good note with a 72-56 win over South Florida at Carnesecca Arena in Queens. D.J. Kennedy had 16 points as the Red Storm bounced back from a disappointing loss at Seton Hall on Thursday. The 20 wins this season is the most for St. John's since the 2002-03 campaign. The Red Storm just missed the double-bye in this week's BIg East tournament, but they will be the No. 5 seed and get a single bye at Madison Square Garden.
Fans in London certainly got bang for their pound. The Nets outlasted the Raptors, 137-136, in triple overtime on Saturday to complete a Great Britain sweep. Travis Outlaw scored the final eight points and finished with 14. Brook Lopez had 34 points and 14 rebounds, Kris Humphries had 20 and 17 and Deron Williams had 21 points and 18 assists. Even Sasha Vujacic had 25 points.
Andrew MacDonald scored two goals in a game for the first time in his career to help the Islanders to a 5-2 win over the Blues. He has three goals in his last two games after three career goals in his first 99 career contests. The Islanders are 21-21-6 since Jack Capuano replaced Scott Gordon.
