- Mets 3, Phillies 0: After a two-hour rain delay, the Mets were able to shutout the Phillies for the series sweep. Mike Pelfrey, who won his seventh game of the season, allowed no runs and only three hits over seven innings. The well used Mets bullpen kept the shutout intact with Pedro Feliciano getting the hold and Francisco Rodriguez notching his ninth save. Jason Bay started the scoring for the Mets in the first inning with a double to bring in Jose Reyes. Reyes added some insurance in the seventh inning with a two run double. The Mets, winners of five straight, head on the road for six games.
- Twins 8, Yankees 2: After taking two straight games from the Twins, the Yankees were unable to get the sweep with Javier Vazquez making the start. In Vazquez' last start against the crosstown rival Mets, he pitched six innings of 1 hit ball for a win. He didn't do nearly as well in his most recent outing, giving up three runs to the Twins after two innings. Twins starter Nick Blackburn allowed only two runs over seven.
