The Yankees may have won the subway series by winning on Friday and Saturday, but the Mets managed a 3-2 10-winning victory to avoid the sweep. Ronny Paulino managed to tie the game in the ninth off Mariano Rivera, and then in the tenth, Jason Bay hit a singe that sent Scott Hairston home. Bay said, "I'm not trying to make it monumental or anything, but just the way I've struggled, to come through in an unbelievable game, it definitely means a lot."
In other Mets news, Jose Reyes' hamstring injury was classified as Grade 1, as in the least severe—he may play as soon as Tuesday!
