The Mets bats went silent as they fell to the Marlins 4-1. New York managed only three hits, two by Willie Harris, as they couldn't get a runner past second base until the 9th. Chris Capuano allowed four runs in seven innings of work to fall to 8-9.
Lightning hit The Trop, causing a brief delay in the game and the Yankees rallied for a 5-4 win. AJ Burnett was mediocre at best, walking six in just over five innings of work and the Yankees trallied 4-2 after seven. But, they mounted a rally off of old "friend", Kyle Farnsworth, in the 8th to tie the game. In the 9th, Curtis Granderson led off with a single, stole second and reached third on a groundout with two outs. The Rays intentionally walked Nick Swisher, but then unintentionally walked Andruw Jones and Russell Martin to drive in Granderson with the winning run. Mariano Rivera pitched a 1-2-3 9th for the save.
