  • Rangers 2 Devils 1 (Shootout): These were two HUGE points. Thanks to a Dainius Zubrus goal in the first period, the Devils jumped out to an early lead. Both teams settled in and played smart, defensive hockey and it looked like that one goal might hold up. But, Ryan Callahan made a great move from behind the net and he threaded a pass across the crease that Chris Drury deposited into the net with under five minutes remaining to tie things up.

Overtime failed to produce a winner so things went to a shootout where Nigel Dawes made a brilliant fake to freeze Martin Brodeur and score . Dawes’ goal held up and the Rangers beat the Devils for the sixth time this season, while moving into a tie for fifth in the Eastern Conference.

  • Nets 125 Atlanta 117: New Jersey had a big third quarter as well as 39 points from Vince Carter and 33 from Richard Jefferson to get a big win. The victory pulls them into a tie with Atlanta for the last playoff spot in the East. Yup, 29-39 is good enough for eighth in the pathetic Eastern Conference.
