- Roy Hibbert didn't stay quiet for long. One day after contributing nothing to Georgetown's win over Villanova, the center helped out with 25 points as his Hoyas routed West Virginia in the first Big East Tournament semifinal. The Mountaineers' Joe Alexander finished with only 12. The defending champs have never lost a Big East Tournament game as the No. 1 seed. They'll put that streak on the line Saturday against Pittsburgh, which took out Marquette. That's seven finals in eight years for the Panthers, and four title games for Jamie Dixon, who, despite seeing his team underachieve in NCAA Tournaments, makes sure his guys are ready for the grueling back-to-backs at Madison Square Garden. Pitt, however, is 1-6 in those finals, with the only win coming in 2003. Amateur gymnast Sam Young had 22 points.
- Panthers 3, Rangers 2: For the first time in more than one month, the Rangers will not have did not collect any points. The Blueshirts had been 10-0-3 since Feb. 7, but that came to a halt in Sunrise, Fla. They move south to St. Petersburg to play the Lightning on Saturday.
