John Tavares deflected a Matt Moulson shot to break a 2-2 tie and the Islanders went on to win 3-2 over Boston. Tavares' goal was his 26th of the year and his second point of the game. Moulson also had two points as he scored the second goal of the game, his 28th of the year. Evgeni Nabokov had another strong game in the pipes, stopping 32-of-34 shots.

The bottom eight teams in the Eastern Conference are all within ten points of each other and only one of them will qualify for a playoff spot. With 63 points, the Islanders are seven points behind the 8th seed, which means they will need plenty of more wins like Saturday's to sneak into the playoffs.
