Remember those fun three months last year in which the L train seemed to develop a drinking problem and stopped running past Bedford for a while? Well, looks like everyone's favorite overpacked monster's back to her old tricks, because starting at 11:30 tonight there's no L service between Myrtle-Wyckoff Ave station in Brooklyn and 8th Ave in Manhattan, through Monday. "Track tie renewal north of 3 Ave" is the stated reason.
Along with the loss of the L—service will be augmented by the usual shuttle buses—the MTA's offering up a few other subway changes this weekend. The 1 train will be running express on the South Ferry-bound track from 145 St to 96 St, the 2 is running local in both directions between 96 St and Times Square-42nd St and the 3 is suspended overnight and will run local from 96th to 42nd all weekend.
4 trains are suspended between Woodlawn and Crown Heights Utica Ave in both directions, starting at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday until 10 p.m. on Sunday. They will be replaced by the 5, which is extended to Crown Heights Utica Ave and New Lots Ave.
Nearly half a year of intermittent 7 train hell starts this weekend, with no service at all between Times Square-42 St and Queensboro Plaza.
Brooklyn-bound A and C trains run express from 59 St Columbus Circle to Canal St, and the 207 St-bound A trains are rerouted via the F line from Jay St-MetroTech to W4 St, then run local to 59 St overnight tonight. The E runs express on the World Trade Center-bound track from 34 St-Penn Station to Canal St all weekend.
Coney Island-bound F trains are rerouted on the M line from Roosevelt Ave to 47-50 Sts Rockefeller Center all weekend. And the M, thankfully, will be running into Manhattan and up to 57th Street from 6 a.m. Saturday to 12:50 a.m. Sunday, and then again from 8 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.
Ditmars Blvd-bound N trains are rerouted via the D line from Coney Island Stillwell Av to 36 Street, from 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Q service is extended to Ditmars Blvd from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
And there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan, forever and all eternity.
