The Knicks have only been 6-4 since the megatrade that brought superstar Carmelo Anthony to NYC, but it seems that you can put a price on excitement, anticipation and expectations: Season tickets to Knicks games will increase nearly 50 percent next year.
This is the first ticket price increase in six years for the Knicks, but with Anthony coming aboard, and the Garden having launched the first phase of an $850-million renovation this year, MSG decided to raise prices (Rangers tickets will also increase by an average amount of 23 percent). For the Knicks, the most notable increase is for the best seats in lower bowl, where prices for 1,238 tickets will rise 100 precent or more—as of now, those seats cost $330 per game for season ticket holders.
Scott O'Neil, president of MSG Sports, said that the arena's ongoing remodeling was the main factor for the "significant" price increase, not Carmelo Anthony. But he did add that the "anticipated team performance" was a factor. On the plus side, it's not like you could afford to go to a Knicks game anyway! And who knows, maybe you'll somehow befriend Jay-Z and get to sit courtside with him.
