2008_02_kiddallstar.jpgWhile nothing is done until the players actually change teams, the Nets and Mavericks have agreed again on a trade that will send Jason Kidd to Dallas. After Devean George sabotaged the first deal with his refusal to waive his no-trade clause and Jerry Stackhouse incurred the wrath of the NBA with his comments, it took some creativity on both sides to complete the deal.

The big winner is Keith Van Horn who got $4.3 million for coning out of retirement and making a comeback with the Nets (wink wink). Of course, that assumes that Van Horn will come back. But, the Nets have made out pretty well. In exchange for Kidd and forward Malik Allen they get a good young player in Devin Harris, some expiring contracts (center DeSagana Diop, swingman Trenton Hassell, guard Maurice Ager), and first round draft picks this year and in 2010 (so they can rebuild), and $3 million in cash.

Now, if they can find a way to deal Vince Carter they will have completely rebuilt a team that has been a disappointment this season.
