Port Authority cops are celebrating the fact that a two-year-old Labrador retriever was not crushed under the wheels of a jumbo jet after it got loose from its handlers at JFK airport three days ago. The pup, Jazz, had been rescued as a stray from Taiwan, and was being flown to the States to meet his new owner. But his handler forgot to put him on a leash before taking him out of the crate.

Port Authority Officer Randal Craft said, "He just opened up the crate and tried to pull the dog out by its collar. But the dog got very nervous. He took off." PA cops eventually corralled him three days later, and he was given to his new owner. Still, we'll never know what kind of adventures Jazz got into while he had escaped. Perhaps he had an important heroin deal to make. Sorry, at this point we assume everything that happens at JFK is part of a drug deal.
