At the Inner Circle's annual charity-and-laughs dinner in March, Mayor Bloomberg was the toast of the night, donning tights to swing in as "Spider-Mike" and starring in an Abba-influenced skit. But maybe we were paying a little too much attention to Hizzoner, and not enough to the opening remarks, which included a visual joke about Anthony Weiner following in former Rep. Chris Lee's naked photo footsteps. Has someone been smoking the vapors of Delphi?

In his opening remarks at the dinner, during which the city's political reporters roast mayors and local pols, Inner Circle President Mark Lieberman told the audience that "Lee couldn't make it" because he was "auditioning for an FDNY calendar." Then, he put up the doctored photo of Weiner's face on Lee's naked torso, and noted that Weiner, who was in attendance, was "picking up where Congressman Lee left off." You can watch the video of the strangely prescient moment here.

Lieberman told the News that the gag was the idea of Inner Circle producer (and OK! editor) Larry Sutton, and was "purely coincidental." He also says he got "no reaction" when he saw Weiner after the show. If Weiner really is following in Lee's footsteps, does that mean it's only a matter of time before we get revelations of craigslist ad postings?
