Mayor Eric Adams’ closest adviser surrendered to Manhattan prosecutors Thursday, according to multiple news reports.
Ingrid Lewis-Martin, who until this past weekend was Adams' chief adviser, was spotted by photographers from the New York Daily News walking into the criminal courthouse. An indictment made public a few hours later accused her of selling her influence — smoothing city approvals for a pair of real-estate investors who investigators say paid her son $100,000, which he then used to help pay for a luxury 2023 Porsche
At the courthouse, Lewis-Martin was accompanied by her son, Glenn Martin II, who works as a DJ.
At a press conference earlier this week, Lewis-Martin vowed to fight the charges.
“I'm being falsely accused of something,” she said. “I don't know exactly what it is, but I know that I was told that it's something that's illegal, and I have never done anything illegal in my capacity in government.”
She resigned abruptly from her influential post in City Hall on Sunday.
